Teenager Therapist
When Might a Teen Need Therapy?
It is normal for teenagers to experience changes in mood and behavior as they grow. However, ongoing or significant changes may indicate that additional support could be helpful.
Parents and caregivers may consider therapy when a teen is experiencing:
- Anxiety, excessive worry, or panic
- Depression or persistent sadness
- School-related stress or academic pressure
- Low self-esteem or lack of confidence
- Anger or difficulty managing emotions
- Social difficulties or friendship concerns
- Family or relationship conflict
- Trauma or stressful experiences
- Grief and loss
- Major life transitions
- Difficulty adjusting to change
- ADHD-related challenges
- Feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or misunderstood
Sometimes a teenager may not be able to explain exactly what is wrong. Changes such as withdrawing from family and friends, losing interest in activities, experiencing significant changes in sleep or school performance, or becoming increasingly irritable can be signs that a teen may benefit from additional support.
