How to find a qualified anxiety therapist in my area?
At The Lighted Path LLC, convenient care for you is what we strive for. Therapy can be found both online and in-person; locations may vary. If you want to learn more about what kind of in-person locations we currently offer, please visit our locations page here.
Are there online platforms offering anxiety counseling services?

Yes! We offer a secure online platform so you can enjoy therapy from the comfort of your own home. You will be sent a secure telehealth link before your first therapy session.

How to choose between virtual and in-person anxiety therapy?

Therapy can be a different experience for every single person. The beauty of therapy with The Lighted Path LLC is that if you are in an area where we offer in-person therapy, you can try it out first. If you find out that one is better than the other, we will be happy to help you make these adjustments to your meet. Therapists may vary depending on in-person and online presence.

What are the most effective therapy approaches for general anxiety?

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to treating anxiety. The most effective therapy depends on your symptoms, experiences, and personal goals. At The Lighted Path, our therapists work with you to create a personalized treatment plan using evidence-based approaches that have been shown to help reduce anxiety and improve overall well-being.

Common therapy approaches for anxiety include:

  1. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT is one of the most researched and effective treatments for anxiety. It helps you recognize unhelpful thought patterns, challenge anxious thinking, and develop healthier coping strategies.
  2. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): ACT focuses on accepting difficult thoughts and emotions rather than fighting them. It helps you build psychological flexibility and take meaningful action based on your values, even when anxiety is present.
  3. Mindfulness-Based Therapy: Mindfulness techniques teach you to stay grounded in the present moment, helping reduce excessive worry and improve emotional regulation.
  4. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): While originally developed for other mental health conditions, DBT skills such as distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and mindfulness can be highly beneficial for managing anxiety.
  5. Trauma-Informed Therapy: Sometimes anxiety is connected to past experiences or unresolved trauma. A trauma-informed approach helps address those underlying factors in a safe and supportive environment.
  6. The most effective therapy is one that is tailored to your unique needs and provided by a therapist you feel comfortable with. Many people find that a combination of therapeutic techniques, consistent practice of coping skills, and a trusting therapeutic relationship leads to lasting improvements in anxiety symptoms.

What can I expect during my first appointment?

Your first therapy session is what we call an “intake” appointment, which is less about diving into deep processing right away and more about setting a comfortable foundation through a collaborative, four-part conversation.

We begin with administrative housekeeping, briefly reviewing your online paperwork and discussing the strict legal limits of confidentiality so you know exactly how your privacy is protected.

Next, we will explore what brought you here, using open-ended questions to understand your current situation, any past therapy experiences, and the specific symptoms—like anxiety, mood changes, or sleep disruptions—you are facing.

We will then gather a brief history of your background, including family dynamics, support systems, and medical history, always moving at your preferred pace so you only share what feels comfortable.

Finally, we wrap up by setting collaborative goals, mapping out exactly what you want to achieve—whether that is gaining practical coping mechanisms or simply having a safe space to process a major life transition—to co-create your personalized treatment roadmap.
